Really, NEW should be in quotes. I haven't updated available stories recently, so figured that now was a good time, because one of them is available to read online for FREE!

Before that came out, I had the following releases:

My story "Where I Woke Up" is in The Desperate and the Damned. A woman wakes up in a house with no escape. Even worse, she has no memory of who she is.

"Tent City Horror" is in the second issue of the newly  relaunched Sanitarium Magazine. What happens when a creature stalks the homeless populace in a tent city? And who might be responsible?

Finally, "Shelter From the Storm" is in Vagabond 002: Apocalypse Edition. Finding shelter in a post-apocalyptic world filled with caustic air is tricky. Especially when something dwells beneath the sand.

Now to get update the website. Oy. I'm falling behind!

Crazy Month - More Releases - Zombies and Skinwalkers, Grr, Argh!

You know how, two weeks ago, I posted that I'd had two new releases come out with my short stories in them? Within two days of each other?

Well, I had two more new releases in the last two weeks!

This should be the last of this fantastic insanity, at least for a little while. It's been amazing, but each new release has its own requirements for time and effort, so it's been a busy time. I still need to update my author accounts on Amazon and Goodreads. Whoops! I'd meant to do it this weekend, but didn't get around to it.

The folks at Sirens Call Publishing have been wonderful to work with. I post submission calls from them all the time, as they not only put out a FREE monthly magazine, but also regular anthologies. 

Bloodbond Magazine, which includes my short story, Sound Advice, focuses on shape shifters and other deadly critters. Road trips through Navajo land can be dangerous. Here there be skinwalkers. This short story was written to a creepy soundtrack, which is included in the story, courtesy of my favorite DJ.

Bloodbond is part of Alban Lake Publishing, which has magazines in different speculative genres. I believe they have seven magazines at this time, and that they're always open to submissions.

One of the releases from two weeks ago, Once Upon a Scream, is having a Facebook release party this Friday, the 13th! All are welcome to come, and there are prizes and games. Come hang out with horror authors, editors and publishers.

And if you missed it, I was interviewed over at Horroraddicts.net about my short story in Once Upon a Scream. You'll have to scan down, as I wasn't able to pull a direct link to the interview post, for some reason.

I'm going to have some exciting news soon, but I'm waiting on some final details before announcing. (No, it's not a publication contract--I'm not querying anything yet.)

Acceptance

Today's going to be a short post since I just burned all of my writing time getting some non-writing work finished. Ah well, it needed to be done. And I'll have plenty of writing time next weekend since I get to go up to Estes Park and have a writing retreat weekend. Woot!

I figured for today I could share some good news. Last week I got two acceptances. I placed a memoir flash fiction piece with Ember: A Journal of Luminous Things, and I placed a short horror story with Sanitarium Magazine. The emails came two days in a row.

PSA: One of my acceptances showed up in the spam folder. Be sure to check your spam folders regularly! If it weren't for the fact that I check daily, I might have missed the opportunity.

Sanitarium will be released at the end of this month in both paper and e-magazine format. I don't have a release date for Ember yet, but it will be a fully illustrated hardcover book. I'll share each when they're available (and will update my publications tab with purchase links.)

Sanitarium has an interesting model. They're just now switching things to it. Each week, their subscribers get a mini-issue that they can access online. At the end of the month, each mini-issue is combined into the monthly full magazine, which they then get via their preferred means. So I already got to see my short story in the subscriber mini-issue, and now I'll get to hold a hard copy in my grubby little hands (remember the discussion last Monday?) I'm excited that I'll be getting a hard copy of each of these publications!
