Fraterfest Read-A-Thon!

I'm posting off-date today because it's time for Fraterfest!  Hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer, the goal is to read as many horror-based books between the 5th and the 8th as you can (or wish to, anyway).  You can still sign up, so make haste to the link above and check it out if you're interested.

Realistically, my only reading time tends to be at bedtime, so my list won't be too long.  Still, I've been saving several horror books on my TBR pile since I saw this read-a-thon was going on, so I'm excited to dive in.

This weekend, I hope to read:

The Ones That Got Away, by Stephen Graham Jones
A Perfect Blood, by Kim Harrison

I have two backups in case I get a shocking amount of reading time this weekend, but I'll post those if I finish these two.

Do you like to read scary book and/or watch scary movies to celebrate Halloween month, er, I mean October?  Are you participating in Fraterfest?

May you find your Muse.

Kim Harrison is a popular pick for this read-a-thon! I still need to start her series!!! I will someday. Happy reading!

Those definitely looks like some great choices! I hope you enjoy them. :)

I love reading scary books or watching scary movies to celebrate October! Haha. But it kind of always end up being limited to closer to Halloween, so it's nice to start early too. ;) Not that I got too creepy books on my list now, but the Readathon still gives a nice Halloween-ish feel. :D

Good luck!

Good luck with the reading! I'm not participating in Fraterfest. This was the first I've heard about it. I like reading scary books and watching scary movies, especially during the month of October.

I love scary books but I've got other reading going on.

Nope. I don't do horror (which is rather amusing considering where my short stories end up going).

You should Shadow Spinner part 5. :P

I don't read much Horror; it takes a particular kind of story to really scare me, though I do enjoy reading a few books in the genre every year. :)

I'm not familiar with these. I'll have to check them out. Good luck with your goals. I don't typically get to read a lot on the weekends, so I'm not sure how much I'll get done either.

Check out my Fraterfest Goals.

I don't know why, but never thought to read scary books in October. Great idea!! Of course spooky movies are a must.

Jennifer, it's a fun series to read. Sometimes the main character makes me want to smack her, though, with her bad decisions.

Bex, the same thing typically happens to me, where I intend to, but I sort of forget until it actually gets closer to Halloween. Fraterfest helped that!

Alex, I understand; you're a sci-fi guy!

Kimba, I'm still reading it, but it's good. She's very introspective in this one, so far. I got to do the Friday challenges and then...my weekend exploded. :(

Susanne, me, too! I like them anytime, but there's something fun about watching it when the overall surrounding mood is spooky, when darkness is settling over us earlier, etc.

Shelly, I can definitely understand that, too. Had I not been waiting to read these books, I would have already had them read and moved onto the next one, which isn't horror.

Lauren, funny how that works sometimes!

Andrew, I should! You know, I believe that is the one I haven't put on my Kindle yet, so I need to get it. I'm terrible about reading serials, though...I always wait and read them in order. Can't stand waiting for the next one!

Golden Eagle, what particular type scares you?

Sandy, I hear you. Weekends are busy with everything that doesn't fit in during the week. ~tired sigh~

Books, that is when I get most of my reading in, too. You know I'm reading a good one when I wrap everything up early in the evening and go to bed at a reasonable time to get in reading time.

Kelly, spooky movies are definitely a must! I somehow totally missed reading spooky books last October, but I made up for it in November when I read The Shining, while watching The Shining, while staying in the hotel Stephen King wrote the book in. Ha!

Carolyn, thanks for hosting!
