It's been awhile since I posted a [Mostly] Wordless Wednesday image with the links. I actually lost track of which I had posted and which I hadn't, and I haven't had the time to go through and figure out what treks I made that I didn't post yet. I've got some little treks planned soon, though, and expect to start having brand new photos again! In the meantime, I thought I'd re-post some photos I took at the Wild Animal Sanctuary in Keenesburg, Colorado, as they're in the news. They're going to be taking in 30 lions that have been liberated from circuses in which they were being mistreated, and are looking for financial assistance to get them settled and cared for in the next year. It's a wonderful place that I plan to visit again soon. Here are a couple of its tenants.
The first three photos are of a lioness chasing a bunny that hopped right up to her. The animals had just been fed, so she was just playing, and did not catch the rabbit. The fourth photo is one of her friends passed out cold. It was a hot day.
Posting these, I realize I had other photos from that day I intended to share. Now I at least know one of the places I left off!

I've considered submitting to Glimmer Train and a few other literary magazines, though I'm always off-put by the entry fee. It's not so much on budget to pay a fee I'd never get back, particularly if they end up not choosing me anyway. Although they'd pay nicely if I were selected or won one of their contests.
I'll check out the link for query letters. You can never know too much regarding that topic.
That last picture is adorable!
Wow! Awesome links! I'm always so thankful that you post these! I am so far behind in some big projects at the moment that if I work on anything else it feels like I'm goofing off, but I'll still keep these links in mind. :)
Great photos for Wordless Wednesday!
30 lions? wow. no wonder they need some help. Thanks for highlighting such a cool place - now I know about it, and can donate!
It's great that the sanctuary can provide a place for those lions. The list about creative people was strange. Kind of said both ends of a spectrum described creative people.
Taking in thirty lions? That's a lot! Good for them though.
That could almost be my cat trying to hide behind that pole.
30 lions? what and how are they fed?
Thanks for posting various submission sites. I finally have something I might try to send to a Christian site. This makes me feel good. Thank you so much.
Creative people aren't the only ones who make no sense.
I got kind of excited with the Lakeside Circus link. I thought maybe I could send them some stories about some of my circus memories. I guess I could turn them into science fiction, but that might not make any sense. However it could be creative.

Glimmer Train has free entries at certain parts of the year. That's the only time I've submitted so far, and only once. The pay certainly makes it seem worthwhile. Typically, I don't pass along links for places that charge any sort of reading or submission fee (even contests), but since they have free periods, I figured it was worth it to pass them along.
Query letters and synopses are things we can always learn more about!
She was so zonked. I love that her tongue's sticking out a little.
I hope you can get your big projects done!
Yes, isn't that crazy? They've got a big space in the plains, and they were expanding when I was last out there, but the food will be the hard part.
True, and I'm not sure how much I agreed with it, bu tit was an interesting article. Creatives cover all types, really.
That's a crazy amount! A lot of their rescue animals come from other "sanctuaries" where animals weren't actually being cared for. Such sad stories there. But the animals seem happy there or I wouldn't be able to go.
Cats are cats, no matter how big they are. Except maybe tigers. They're just scary.
A whole lotta' meat! I know they get some food donations, or have in the past, but it must take an awful lot of meat to feed the animals they already have. Good luck submitting!
I'll have to mention if I find any circus themed publications. And, no, most people don't make sense!
